What You’ll Accomplish in the Basic Foundation Skills Course
When you complete the Basic Foundation Skills Course (where everyone begins), your dog will have mastered several essential foundation behaviors needed for Service Dog Work, plus one adaptable Task that can be customized for various types of disabilities. Your dog will learn impeccable public manners and how to maintain focus on his Service Dog Work. We’ll show you how to teach your dog to help you navigate your life challenges, and through this method of training, he’ll “learn how to learn” – making your job of continuing his training even easier!
What Comes Next?
The Basic Foundation Skills course is exactly that – the foundation. Once you and your dog have mastered these essential skills, you’ll advance to specialized training tailored to YOUR specific disability and needs. Whether you’re training a Psychiatric Service Dog, Mobility Assistance Dog, Diabetes Alert Dog, or any other type of Service Dog, we offer advanced courses that teach your dog the specific Tasks and Work required to mitigate the unique symptoms and challenges of your particular disability.
Your Personal Training Experience
The Basic Foundation Skills course takes you step-by-step through the training process WITH ONE-ON-ONE HELP FROM YOUR OWN INDIVIDUAL TRAINER. Your assigned trainer will typically connect with you daily online as you work through the included textbook and online materials. You’ll also receive a workbook to chart your progress and maintain a written training record.
Your trainer will review videos of you and your Service Dog In Training working through the lessons, then provide specific feedback to help you perfect your technique. You’ll have direct access to your trainer for any questions that arise. Upon successful completion with a passing grade, you’ll receive a certificate of completion.

Because we work with you individually, the course begins when YOU are ready!

Your Service Dog Inc., offers several ebooks for training your own service dog using The Full Potential Service Dog Training Method, and we use the books pictured below to guide you through the training online. All the training books by Lelah Sullivan are available on Amazon Kindle.
