Fully Trained Service Dogs — Placed at No Charge
Through our Prospect Evaluation and Placement Program, Your Service Dog Inc. matches fully trained Service Dogs with the people who need them. Recipients pay nothing for the training.
ABOUT THE PROGRAM Your Service Dog Inc’s Prospect Evaluation and Placement Program is a cornerstone of our mission. We select suitable candidate puppies (or mature dogs) from shelters, rescues, or donations. Each puppy is placed with a volunteer Puppy Raiser and continues to be assessed to ensure suitability for service work. Most dogs then complete Basic Foundation Skills Levels 1, 2, and 3 at Your Service Dog School before being placed with their recipient. Recipients who prefer to continue the training journey themselves may opt to receive an evaluated dog and carry forward the Service Dog In Training phase on their own.
Dogs who complete the Evaluation period and prove suited to the work are carefully matched with a Partner — at no charge to the recipient.
Recipients take on the ongoing care of their Service Dog: food, veterinary care, the daily business of a life together. What they never pay for is the training. That part is ours.
Not every dog is suited to service work, and that’s not a failure — it’s a change of career. Each dog is evaluated throughout the program with their own well-being and long-term success in mind. Dogs who take a different path go on to become Emotional Support Animals or Companion Dogs, placed in homes where they’ll thrive.
Could a Service Dog Change Your Life?
Your Service Dog Inc. places fully trained service dogs with people with disabilities at no charge for the dog and the training. We believe the cost of a service dog should never be the reason someone goes without one. (Recipients remain responsible for their dog’s ongoing care, such as food and veterinary expenses.)
We work with recipients who have a wide range of disabilities, including:
- Diabetes (Type 1 & Type 2) — Diabetes Alert Dogs
- Mobility impairments
- Psychiatric disabilities (PTSD, anxiety, depression)
- Seizure disorders
- Autism spectrum disorders
- Other qualifying disabilities
Basic eligibility:
- You have a documented disability
- A service dog would meaningfully improve your daily functioning and safety
- You are able to care for and work with a dog
- You are committed to ongoing training and partnership
Please note: Placements are limited by the number of dogs in our program. We cannot guarantee placement or a specific timeline. Every match is made carefully to ensure the right dog goes to the right person.

Not Looking for a Service Dog Yourself?
This program runs on volunteers. Puppy Raisers who open their homes. Coordinators who find candidate dogs in shelters. Drivers who move a dog one leg of the journey. People who keep the records straight so the right match gets made with the right person.
If you’d like to be part of how these dogs get made, we’d like to hear from you.
